Interview on Racism
Research Question: How is Racial Prejudice still prevalent in society and how can we limit it in society.
The person who I interview is my friend Ajani Felder. We went to ti high school together and we graduated together. I still keep in contact with him and he’s a person of color so I decided he would be the perfect person to do this interview on.
Question 1: Have you ever been racially profiled or discriminated against before?
A: Yes this one time I walked into the store and the owner kept on serving other white people before me and others that looked like me or darker.
Question 2: How did you handle the experience of being racially profiled
A: Me I simply left because everyone else was yelling at him for doing so
Question 3: Growing up were you ever called any names and judged based on the color of your skin?
A: Based on the way I look people would see me walking down the street with a hoodie on and they think I would come and rob them
Question 4: What can we as a community do to reduce & prevent stereotypes and racial discrimination from happening in society?
A: Hmmm. I feel like we can have a talk to our kids and tell them to just get along with people and not to worry about the color of someone’s skin.
We should try to do something with the younger generations so they grow up and change society
Question 5: Do you think ignorance is what causes stereotypes to occur or is there another underlying main cause?
A: Yes I feel like it’s ignorance and like all the jokes people say about others like the comparisons.
Question 6: Can minority groups or people of color be racist/prejudice towards each other?
A: Yes they can. People just tend to think that only white people can be racist but that’s not the case.
