ENG 101 

    The Passageway to Success

A reading that I have and use on a daily basis is Annotating. From the first time being introduced to this topic I hate it. As a reader I didn't think that I always needed to annotate my text for the purpose of taking down important information.

 I always struggled reading pieces of texts. Whenever I was taking a test or doing a homework assignment I always found it very hard for me to concentrate and understand what the author was saying especially if I was long reading assignment with challenging vocabulary. The first step to Annotating is to underline important key details. It’s much easier to find the main idea and summarize it in your own words so you can comprehend what is being talked about in the text. The next step I do is to make sure to circle any unfamiliar vocabulary I may not know or struggle with. I will try to figure out the word by using context clue thus will help me understand the text more. Annotating made me become an active reader. I suddenly had an urge to read many things and to broaden my vocabulary. Reading made me ask questions and explore many new things that were introduced to me. Annotating may seem boring at first but it is very beneficial to you. I want people to know that annotating may seem very repetitive and unnecessary but it helps you in the long run.
